Texas Beach, RVA

Dear Lovlies,
Have you all been to Texas Beach? Well if you haven't, I'll let you in on a little secret, its located on Texas St. beside Maymont. There is a little hiking involved but once you reach the water its absolutely breathtaking. I urge you to check this out, whether you're a visitor or you're a citizen of Richmond. RVA loves Texas Beach and I'm sure you will too.
Love,
The River City.

Grand Opening at the VMFA

RVA, was so excited to enjoy the May 1, 2010 reopening of the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts! Free food, extravagant atmosphere and wonderful company. The exhibitions were all very unique and so beautifully situated in the new wing of the VMFA.

If you haven't seen it yet, go now. Yes, right now! Elvis and Andy Warhol demand it!

VCU's Strut!

Instead of attending the obvious UofR/VCU French Film Festival, Richmond attended the VCU annual Fashion Show "Strut!"

The show was fantastic and utterly mesmerizing! The young designers featured their beautifully constructed art on the runway with little disappointment from the audience!

This year's theme "Strut in Wonderland," was creative, innovative and not without it's theatrical flare.

Congratulations to all of the models, designers and coordinators of the show! Richmond enjoyed it thoroughly.

NY Times

Recently came across this article in the NYtimes.com about Richmond, VA.

"AS the heart of the old Confederacy, Richmond, Va., watched with envy as other cities like Atlanta and Charlotte became the economic and cultural pillars of the New South. But Richmond may finally be having its big moment: a building boom in the last few years has seen century-old tobacco warehouses transformed into lofts and art studios. Chefs are setting up kitchens in formerly gritty neighborhoods, and the city’s buttoned-up downtown suddenly has life after dusk, thanks to new bars, a just-opened hotel and a performing arts complex, Richmond CenterStage. Richmond is strutting with confidence, moving beyond its Civil War legacy and emerging as a new player on the Southern art and culinary scene."

Attached are photos from the article! What a beautiful city it is!
